Hannah Goldberg's Shrine

Hannah Goldberg

Hannah has been with the team since 2004 and has helped the team grow to what it is today. In 2010, she won the San Diego Regional Woodie Flowers Award. This award goes to the person who encourages student participation and creativity, clearly explains the math and science, demonstrates enthusiasm around these subjects, is an effective communicator, encourages problem solving skills and motivates the students. It is the highest honor an individual can receive for FIRST. We cannot imagine the team without her, and we can't think of a mentor more deserving of this great honor.

Woodie Flowers Award nomination essay written by student Amalia Fredric:

"Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation's compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain love for one another." This quote by Erma Bombeck reminds our team of one special person who dedicates so much time and energy into helping our team succeed. Every other day we see her smiling face, ready to work and motivate us, never being discouraged by long hours of work or a mistake here and there. Her knowledge in the engineering field is amazing, though she always allows us significant room to see and find out for ourselves. She is an ideal role model and a great citizen. She is Hannah Goldberg. Ms. Goldberg is truly an inspiration. For six years, she has been by our side all while juggling her job as an electric engineer for JPL and as of this year, an engineering instructor for our school. As a single, independent women, Hannah Goldberg goes beyond the call of duty helping us on weekends during build season as well as working with us after school. She is always willing to work longer hours to make sure that our projects are done on time. Her positive energy has really helped keep our team going and doing our best each year. As an instructor, her extensive knowledge is clearly shown through her amazing ability to communicate ideas and concepts to us. She demonstrates ideas effectively through on-board demonstrations and hands-on training. Though she helps to find solutions to major problems, she never does our work for us, but instead lets us solve problems for ourselves, which once we succeed we feel great self-confidence and gain a more willingness to learn. She always tells us to never wait on anybody and that communication is key. Hannah is never discouraged by our mistakes, but instead sees it as an opportunity to learn. Through all the help that she has given the team, we have gained her trust completely, and her approachable character allows us communicate with her effectively. She always tries to find the good in people and work with that, never looking past anyones ability to do something good. Coming from all of us, she truly has a great heart. We greatly appreciate her help and all the time she has given us through all these years. Who knows where our team would have been without her. Personally, she is the hardest working and most dedicated person I have ever seen. Ms.Goldbergs passion for engineering and helping others is a gift that deserves to be greatly acknowledged.
