Anderson W. Clark Magnet High School is the newest high school in the Glendale Unified School District and its only magnet school. It opened in September 1998 on the original campus of Anderson W. Clark Junior High, after a 15 million dollar renovation. Originally conceived to alleviate the strains of overcrowding on the other three district high schools, Clark accepts students from all areas of the Glendale Unified School District. The school is named after Anderson W. Clark, the Baptist minister who served as the head of the Red Cross in central France during World War I, and later served charitably in the La Crescenta-Montrose area after the flood of 1934.

Admission to Clark is based on a lottery system. Applicants must meet the basic criteria for admission: namely, a 2.0 minimum GPA, scores in the 36th percentile or higher on California State (STAR) Testing, and eligibility to take Algebra or higher during the freshman year.

Clark's core curriculum focuses on science, math, and technology. The school has corporate sponsorships from Compaq, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, NASA, and Cisco Systems, making it the most technologically-advanced school in the district. Students have access to many unique programs not offered at any of the other schools, including EAST (Environmental and Spatial Technology), a Technical Literacy class, a networking class in conjunction with Cisco Systems, advanced computer graphical art classes, and engineering clubs through FSEA (Future Scientists and Engineers of America). Of course, to make room for these programs other programs must be sacrificed, so students that participate in music or sports do so at the other district schools. Clark does offer a music club, and an intramural sports program in which any student can participate.

With no sports teams, Clark's only official school-sponsored team is our robotics team. We have tried to bring the same atmosphere of school-wide spirit to the activities of our robotics team as might be found at a school with a winning football team, though without the elitism. Many teachers often come to a local competition to cheer us on from the stands. We also often bring a bus of engineering students from Clark so they can experience the excitement of FIRST, and hopefully become inspired to join the team the next season. Before going to Nationals, we even hosted a school-wide pep rally!

We'd like to thank the Clark Magnet High School faculty, teachers, students and ASB for supporting our program. We wouldn't be able to exist without you. We'd like to thank Mr. Dall, Clark's principal, Ms. Provost, assistant principal, and Mrs. Melone, administrative secretary, for their continuous support. Special thanks to Ms. Sajjadieh for supervising our meetings at such short notice, to Ms. Craemer for spending lots of time photoshopping posters and other goodies for us, to Mr. Gruss, for sharing his physics expertise, and to Clark's entire custodial staff for staying late to let us into the robotics room at short notice and helping us transport those heavy robots around the school!
